Application context
The Grand Hotel Europa is an ambitious project located in the heart of Prague. Renovation work began in 2017 and involved the complete restoration of the historic building, which is protected as a cultural heritage site, and the construction of a new oval structure in the inner courtyard. This intervention has given the hotel a contemporary feel and significantly increased its accommodation capacity. The hotel reopened in October 2024 under the prestigious Marriott brand, with a design that pays homage to the history and timeless elegance of the Art Nouveau style.
Client's requirements
The hotel is a project that harmoniously blends a precise artistic style with contemporary design. The new elliptical wing, modern and bold, is spread over nine floors and houses 154 elegant rooms, enriched with selected works of art curated in collaboration with renowned design studios and local artists, creating a constant dialogue between past and present.
Ekinex solutions
To ensure accurate design and ease of function management, Ekinex wall-mounted controls were chosen, in particular buttons, thermostats and USB/C sockets in the FF Series, in a metal finish. To make them more intuitive to use, the buttons were laser-engraved with the hotel's custom font.
An intelligent building management system was used throughout the hotel to automate lighting, heating, shading and ventilation. This allows guests to experience comfort at the highest level without disturbing the authenticity of the space in any way.
